Azerbaijanchr("39")s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi during an official visit to Tokyo.
According to Azerbaijanchr("39")s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit highlights both countrieschr("39") commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Bayramov noted Azerbaijanchr("39")s growing role as an international transport and logistics hub and emphasized the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route in strengthening regional and global connectivity. The long-standing presence of the company Silkway in the Japanese market for more than 10 years was also highlighted.
The ministers praised cooperation on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oil field and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, stressing Azerbaijan"s role in global energy security.
They also discussed student exchange programs, Japanese language teaching at two universities in Azerbaijan, and cultural and humanitarian initiatives, including the planned hosting of the World Sumo Tournament in Baku in October this year.
Bayramov briefed the Japanese side on the post-conflict situation in the region, reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The sides also exchanged views on regional and international security issues, including developments in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Both sides emphasized the importance of the principles of the UN Charter, including respect for sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of states.
