Azerbaijan aims to turn renewable energy potential into export potential

Azerbaijanchr("39")s key energy goal is to turn its rich renewable energy potential into export potential, as it has done in the traditional energy sector, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku,  Olaylar informs.

According to him, large-scale green energy projects are already being implemented in Azerbaijan together with leading global companies:

"The agreement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan within the framework of COP29 laid the foundation for a green energy corridor from Central Asia. The Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor is designed to deliver renewable electricity to European markets. Clearly, this creates new opportunities for investors in power generation, transmission, and energy-intensive industries."

He said that the energy sector is not limited to energy alone, but also generates data flows:

"In this context, the key goal is to become a digital hub. The Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable Line currently being laid across the Caspian Sea between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will create a new high-capacity digital connection between Europe and Asia. Together with connections featuring infrastructure already established in other parts of Azerbaijan, this offers highly competitive opportunities for attracting investment in data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure."
