Tokayev: Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia developing unified tariff model for Middle Corridor
11:02 EnKazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are working on the creation of a unified long-term tariff model as part of efforts to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting with Eduard Sigrist, Vice President of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).
Tokayev said that alongside the development of a unified tariff model, the three countries are implementing a number of key infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the cargo fleet on the Caspian Sea, dredging operations in cooperation with Azerbaijan, and the modernization of the Kuryk port.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation in transport and logistics. Particular attention was paid to increasing containerization, which is expected to significantly boost cargo volumes along the route.
Tokayev praised the presence in Kazakhstan of one of the worldchr("39")s leading container shipping companies, noting that the development of the Middle Corridor is currently a strategic priority for the country.
The Kazakh president also welcomed MSCchr("39")s interest in investing in port infrastructure on the Caspian coast, emphasizing that such projects would significantly enhance the routechr("39")s competitiveness and contribute to growing freight traffic between Asia and Europe.
For his part, Sigrist presented the companychr("39")s long-term investment plans in Kazakhstan, which include investments in logistics terminals, railway assets, port infrastructure, maritime services, and cargo air transportation.
