Azerbaijan performs one heart transplant from deceased donor this year

Azerbaijan performed one heart transplant from a deceased donor during the first nine months of 2026.

In response to Olaylarchr("39")s inquiry, the Azerbaijani Health Ministrychr("39")s Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation stated that the operation was successful.

According to the center, a total of three heart transplants had been performed in Azerbaijan by September 2026.

On October 31, 2025, Azerbaijan and the wider Caucasus region witnessed their first successful heart transplant from a deceased donor. The landmark operation, organized jointly by the Ministry of Health and the Central Clinic, involved the transplantation of the heart of a brain-dead donor into a 19-year-old recipient.
