Baku city center to become pedestrian-friendly as car traffic restrictions expand to daily basis from October 5

Restrictions on car traffic on several central streets of Baku, previously imposed on weekends, will be extended to all days of the week.

According to Olaylar, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), the changes will apply to the section of Zarifa Aliyeva Street beyond its intersection with Rasul Rza Street, as well as Abdulkarim Alizada Street, Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev Street, Tarlan Aliyarbayov Street, and Yusif Mammadaliyev Street.

The initiative is aimed at improving connecФtivity between pedestrian areas, creating a more comfortable and safer urban environment, and boosting the tourism and business potential of the city center.

Access to and from the area will remain available to residents holding individual parking permits, as well as vehicles providing emergency, medical, utility, and logistics services.

The new rules will be introduced on a trial basis starting October 5.
