Meloni thanks Ilham Aliyev for SOCAR's decision on fuel prices in Italy

Following Italychr("39")s Eni, Azerbaijani state company SOCAR has decided to set price caps on gasoline and diesel fuel across the network of its subsidiary, Italiana Petroli (IP), Olaylar informs, citing President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni.

"Following Eni, IP has also decided to cap fuel prices across the country. This is an important sign of attention to Italian families and confirmation that a concrete contribution can be made to reducing fuel costs," Meloni said.

She thanked President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for this step, which she noted strengthens cooperation between the two countries, as well as SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf.

Earlier, SOCAR announced its readiness to set price ceilings for gasoline and diesel fuel across the IP distribution network. The company noted that the price cap will be established while taking into account the need to ensure the sustainability of the supply chain, which includes thousands of operators.

SOCAR emphasized that this initiative is a response to the Italian governmentchr("39")s call to support families and businesses that have been facing high fuel prices for more than six months amid geopolitical instability and its impact on global supply chains.

The price restriction will be introduced in phases, starting with the IP network.
