Azerbaijan, Tajikistan PMs discuss opportunities of Middle and Zangazur corridors

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and his Tajik counterpart, Qohir Rasulzoda, discussed expanding trade and making more effective use of the two countrieschr("39") transport and transit capabilities.

According to Olaylar, citing the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, the prime ministers paid particular attention to the role of the Middle Corridor and opportunities associated with the Zangezur Corridor.

The meeting was held as part of the Tajik prime ministerchr("39")s official visit at the invitation of Ali Asadov.

The sides noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, based on friendship and mutual respect, are developing successfully. They described the signing of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership in 2024 as an important milestone in strengthening bilateral ties. They also emphasized the decisive role of the political will and joint efforts of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Emomali Rahmon in bringing relations between the two countries to their current level.

The prime ministers highly valued Azerbaijan and Tajikistanchr("39")s mutual support within regional and international organizations. They also discussed the role of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission, the Azerbaijan-Tajikistan Business Council and business forums in developing direct contacts between entrepreneurs and implementing new joint initiatives.

In the transport sector, the sides discussed opportunities for more effective cooperation. They noted the growing importance of the Middle Corridor as one of the key routes connecting Asia and Europe, as well as the additional opportunities that the Zangazur Corridor could create for the region"s transport system.

The participants also highlighted strong prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy.
