Baku urges Georgian Patriarchate not to repeat Armenian Church's approach

Azerbaijanchr("39")s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has urged the Patriarchate of Georgia not to repeat the Armenian Churchchr("39")s known approaches.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that all historical, cultural and religious monuments located in Azerbaijan are an integral part of the national heritage of the Azerbaijani people and the state.

The statement came after Baku interpreted the position of the Patriarchate of Georgia regarding the Kurmukh Church in the Gakh district as containing territorial claims. The MFA said the Patriarchatechr("39")s statement was contrary to the spirit of friendship, partnership and good-neighborly relations between the two countries.
