Azerbaijanchr("39")s Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gismat Gozalov met with Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Gahraman Roziyev and Chairman of the Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group Annamuhammet Sarcjayev,  Olaylar informs, citing the Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkmenistan.

The meeting noted that fraternal relations and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have been successfully developing in various areas. It was emphasized that the historical, cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and religious commonalities between the Azerbaijani and Turkmen peoples form a solid foundation for bilateral relations.

The recent dynamics of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations were described as encouraging. In this regard, it was noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyevchr("39")s visit to Turkmenistan in 2025, visits by National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan, as well as high-level mutual contacts, have made an important contribution to further strengthening bilateral ties.

The importance of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedovchr("39")s state visit to Azerbaijan on June 22-23 was also emphasized. It was noted that the signing of a Joint Statement by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as well as documents covering various areas during the visit, was important in terms of further expanding the legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on the current state and prospects for developing interparliamentary cooperation. It was emphasized that increasing mutual visits, meetings, and direct contacts between parliament speakers and MPs, as well as at the level of interparliamentary friendship groups, contributes to further deepening ties between the two countries.

The sides also discussed cooperation between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan within regional and international parliamentary platforms, continuation of consultations, and mutual support. The meeting also featured an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
