Proposal made in Azerbaijan to create digital map of religious monuments

A proposal has been made in Azerbaijan to create a unified information database and digital map of religious monuments.

Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Ramin Mammadov introduced the initiative at the conference "Preservation of historical and religious monuments: challenges and prospects, Olaylar informs.

"The prompt exchange of information regarding the legal status of monuments, their technical condition, usage procedures, and existing problems will allow for more accurate prioritization and more efficient organization of planned works. In this context, creating a unified information database and digital map of historical and religious architectural monuments can become one of the main initial stages of joint work," Ramin Mammadov said.

According to him, each religious monument has unique architecture, a history of origin and development, as well as traditions of worship and use of the space established over centuries.

"When restoring each religious monument, we must strive to preserve its historical authenticity, religious and spiritual essence, and distinctive features as much as possible," he emphasized.
