Türkiye and Azerbaijan are two islands of stability in a region facing numerous challenges, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, Olaylar informs.
He recalled his recent visit to Azerbaijan, describing the country as a brotherly and allied state with which Türkiye has consistently cooperated and shown solidarity in addressing global challenges and regional developments.
In a post on X, Fidan said it was a coincidence that he was in Azerbaijan on the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku. He thanked Azerbaijani officials, particularly his counterpart and "brother," Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, for their hospitality.
During the visit, Fidan was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and held extensive talks with Bayramov.
"We assessed the crises in our region and exchanged views on ensuring lasting peace, stability and prosperity in the South Caucasus, as well as the common future of the Turkic world," Fidan said.
He added that the sides discussed steps to further develop economic and trade ties, joint projects in the energy and transport sectors, and cooperation in the field of security.
Fidan emphasized that Türkiye would continue to deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan and work together toward shared goals.
Fidan visited Azerbaijan on September 15. During the visit, he was received by President Ilham Aliyev and met with Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The two ministers also held a press briefing following their meeting.
