Azerbaijan, Türkiye discuss advancing Baku-Yerevan peace process
Azerbaijan and Türkiye have discussed advancing the peace process between Baku and Yerevan and reaffirmed their common position on the need to resolve conflicts, including those in the Middle East, through political and diplomatic means.
According to Olaylar, this was stated by Azerbaijanchr("39")s Ministry of Foreign Affairs following an expanded meeting in Baku between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
The ministers reviewed the progress achieved over the past year in the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as practical steps aimed at establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus and developing regional cooperation.
The sides also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and other regions, emerging geopolitical realities and ongoing conflicts.
"The ministers reaffirmed their shared position that conflicts and military confrontations should be resolved through political and diplomatic means," the statement said.
During the meeting, the sides reviewed the full range of strategic allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, established under the leadership of the two countries" presidents and enshrined in the Shusha Declaration.
The discussions covered political dialogue, trade, economic and investment ties, energy, transport and logistics, security and defense, humanitarian cooperation, as well as coordination within international and regional organizations.
The foreign ministers emphasized the importance of institutional mechanisms such as the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, political consultations between the foreign ministries and the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Bayramov and Fidan also discussed cooperation within the UN, the Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the OSCE, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, D-8 and other organizations.
The ministers also noted the contribution of trilateral and quadrilateral formats, including Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye, Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Türkiye and Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan-Türkiye, to strengthening regional security, economic development and transport connectivity.
