Quality of teaching in Azerbaijani schools improves over past decade, minister says

Over the past ten years, Azerbaijan has succeeded in improving the quality of teaching in general education schools, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev said at the September conference of education workers, Olaylar informs.

According to him, only a third of current teachers have so far been recruited into the education system on a competitive basis.

"A unified information database has been established for each teacher. At the same time, more than 90% of educators have passed certification," the minister noted.

Amrullayev emphasized that it is impossible to improve the education system through isolated pilot projects and that reforms must be consistent in nature.

"Education requires continuity. Instead of implementing 30 different short-term initiatives, it is better to consistently carry out five," he said.
