Jeyhun Bayramov: Azerbaijan has provided assistance to more than 140 countries over past 15 years

More than 140 states have received international assistance from Azerbaijan over the past 15 years, with approximately $400 million allocated through bilateral and multilateral channels since 2020, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said at the conference "Strengthening Global Solidarity through Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation,"  Olaylar informs.

The conference was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA).

According to the foreign minister, aid recipients include 54 African states, 111 out of 121 Non-Aligned Movement member states, 52 out of 57 Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states, 43 out of 44 Least Developed Countries, and 28 out of 39 Small Island Developing States.

"Since 2020, about $400 million has been allocated for assistance through bilateral and multilateral channels. Our support takes a wide variety of forms. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Azerbaijan provided assistance to 80 countries," Bayramov said.

The minister noted that Azerbaijanchr("39")s cooperation with African nations included supporting the fight against the Ebola epidemic and participating in the Alliance to Fight Avoidable Blindness.

"Under this initiative, over 900,000 people underwent vision screenings, and more than 150,000 cataract surgeries were performed. Simultaneously, professional development training was provided to local medical specialists," the foreign minister added.
