Baku climate finance goal must be fully implemented, Jeyhun Bayramov says
12:15 EnThe Baku climate finance goal must be implemented in full, as it forms the foundation of trust among participants in the global climate process, Azerbaijanchr("39")s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov said at the opening ceremony of the Fourth Climate Week of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (CW4) in Baku, Olaylar informs.
The minister recalled that historic decisions were made at COP29 in Baku regarding climate finance, carbon markets, and other areas of implementation of the Paris Agreement.
"The Baku climate finance goal must be fully implemented and secured, as it is the foundation of trust between the parties. Its ambition must exceed $300 billion," Bayramov emphasized.
He noted that the "roadmap from Baku to Belém" demonstrated the possibility of mobilizing climate finance on a significantly larger scale.
The foreign minister stated that with the official opening of Climate Week in Baku, the main focus is on maintaining momentum ahead of COP31 in Antalya, as well as strengthening regional and multilateral partnerships.
Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijanchr("39")s steadfast brotherly support for Türkiye in preparing to host the next climate conference. According to him, cooperation between the COP29 and COP31 presidencies serves as an example of regional solidarity, ensuring continuity in the climate process, the formation of ambitious finance mechanisms, and the continuation of global climate action.
