The construction of reservoirs in Karabakh and East Zangazur will contribute to efforts to combat flooding, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA) Khayyam Mammadov said on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Olaylar informs.
According to him, construction and reconstruction work underway at the Sugovushan, Hakari, Zabukh and Kondalanchay reservoirs in the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions, as well as the construction of the Yengija reservoir in Gabala District and the Alijan reservoir in Oghuz and Shaki districts, will be of great importance for improving water supply in these areas and combating floods.
At the same time, construction of the Agsuchay and Zayamchay reservoirs, as well as the Takalichay and Banovshachay reservoirs, is continuing to ensure the effective collection of water from mountain rivers, he added.
