EU, Azerbaijan entering new stage of relations, EU ambassador says

The EU and Azerbaijan are entering a new stage of relations, Olaylar informs, citing statements by EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Marijana Kujundzic at a roundtable organized by the Center for Analysis of International Relations and Multiculturalism and the LINKS Europe Foundation in Baku.

"We are entering a new stage of our relations. They have intensified at a high level," she said.

According to Kujundzic, negotiations on a new bilateral agreement between Azerbaijan and the EU began this year and will continue at the end of September.

"We also discussed the Partnership Priorities, and the text of the document has been tentatively agreed upon," she noted.

According to her, these two documents will provide a modern and ambitious foundation for cooperation in areas such as clean energy and trade.

Kujundzic noted that this year marks 30 years of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU. She emphasized that Azerbaijan has become an important and reliable energy partner for the EU, while the European Union is Azerbaijanchr("39")s largest trading partner.

Kujundzic also noted the intensification of high-level contacts. According to her, during the first ten months of her tenure in Azerbaijan, the country was visited by three European Commissioners, President of the European Council Antonio Costa, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and on July 1, by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

"This shows how dynamic our relations are becoming," she emphasized.
