Second day of 4th International Mine Action Conference in Baku kicks off

The second day of the 4th International Mine Action Conference, jointly organized by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) and the United Nations Office in Azerbaijan, has kicked off in Baku.

The conference, themed "Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements," will feature several panel discussions, with presentations by foreign and local experts as well as officials.

The conference aims to convey Azerbaijanchr("39")s mine problem to the world, strengthen international partnership in humanitarian demining, discuss the role of mine clearance in safe and sustainable recovery, promote innovative approaches and exchange of best practices, and mobilize international efforts to eliminate mine threats.

The 4th International Mine Action Conference in Baku hosts more than 400 delegates from 60 countries. A final statement is expected to be adopted at the conclusion.
