Tourist arrivals to Azerbaijan fall by over 9%

In January-July 2026, 1,342,600 foreign nationals and stateless persons from 191 countries visited Azerbaijan, marking a 9.2% decrease compared to the same period last year, Olaylar informs, citing the countrychr("39")s State Statistical Committee.

According to the latest data, arrivals included 28.3% from Russia, 20% from Türkiye, 7.9% from Iran, 4.7% from Georgia, 4.6% from Kazakhstan, 3.2% each from Uzbekistan and Pakistan, 3.1% from Israel, 2.6% from India, 2.5% from China, 2.3% from Saudi Arabia, 1.6% from Ukraine, 1.3% from Turkmenistan, 1.1% from Germany, and 1% from the UK. Citizens of other countries and stateless persons accounted for 12.6%. Men made up 67.4% of visitors, women 32.6%.

Compared to the first seven months of 2025, arrivals from EU countries increased by 8% to 65,900, from CIS countries by 1.6% to 531,300, while arrivals from Gulf states fell by 32.8% to 159,500, and from other countries dropped by 10.8% to 585,900.

Of those visiting Azerbaijan, 72.4% traveled by air, 26.2% by rail or road, and 1.4% by sea.

During the same period, the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad decreased by 2.4% to 1,160,100. Of these, 42.7% went to Türkiye (up 2.7%), 15.9% to Russia (down 1.3%), 12.4% to Georgia (up 8%), 5.8% to Iran (down 36.3%), and 23.2% to other countries (down 4.1%). Men accounted for 65.1%, women 34.9%.

Outbound Azerbaijani travelers used air transport in 70.4% of cases, rail or road in 27.6%, and sea transport in 2%.
