Ambassador: London, Baku agreed to elevate relations to level of strategic partnership

The United Kingdom and Azerbaijan have agreed to elevate their bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership, the new UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Duncan Norman, said at a press conference, Olaylar informs.

According to the ambassador, modern Azerbaijan is a dynamic, modern, and globally connected country, creating conditions for deeper cooperation.

"That is why our governments have agreed to raise relations to the level of a strategic partnership. The United Kingdom and Azerbaijan are building a shared future that will bring real benefits to the peoples of both countries," the ambassador said.

He added that the UK views Azerbaijan as an important regional partner and is determined to ensure the development of this partnership.

"The United Kingdom and Azerbaijan are linked by more than 30 years of cooperation, which began with the energy sector. BPchr("39")s significant investments have played an important role in shaping Azerbaijanchr("39")s modern economic history, and today we continue to build interaction on this solid foundation," the diplomat noted.

The ambassador added that cooperation between the two countries has long extended beyond the energy sector: "Today, it encompasses defense and security, trade, education, and innovation, as well as deep ties between our peoples. Azerbaijan is a valued partner, and we are connected by close relations and a shared understanding of modern key challenges and opportunities."
