Historic street thermometer restored in central Baku

A mercury thermometer that had been one of the recognizable features of the capital for many years has been restored in front of the Baku City Executive Authority building.

According to Olaylar the themometer was installed at the site during the Soviet era. It remained there after Azerbaijan gained independence but was later dismantled.

Street thermometers are a common feature of the urban landscape in many well-known capitals and major cities around the world.
