Nakhchivan Plays one of most important roles in opening of Zangezur Corridor — Yunus Oghuz

"As a result of the peace agreement initialled on August 8, 2025, in Washington, D.C., at the White House in the United States, Nakhchivan has already gained greater powers. In other words, by becoming a logistics hub, Nakhchivan will become a territory through which major oil and gas pipelines will pass", said editor-in-chief of Olaylar newspaper, Yunus Oghuz.

"The world's 'One Belt, One Road' project includes Nakhchivan. Therefore, the importance of Nakhchivan is increasing significantly. In such circumstances, the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to Nakhchivan, as well as the implementation of very important projects there on the President's instructions - including the development of tourism and industry and the strengthening of the economy - once again demonstrate that Nakhchivan's importance has grown. Undoubtedly, economic growth will also have a positive impact on the well-being of the population.

The establishment of several logistics facilities in Nakhchivan, the construction of highways and railways, and the overall development of the economy and industry once again demonstrate that Nakhchivan currently plays one of the most important and significant roles in the opening of the Zangezur Corridor.

It should be taken into account that Nakhchivan also borders three countries: Armenia, Türkiye (Azerbaijan's direct land border with Türkiye passes through Nakhchivan), and Iran.

I would like to speak directly about several issues here. Today, Nakhchivan should be one of the leading regions of Azerbaijan. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan attaches great importance to this matter. A number of projects have already been launched in this direction. Many initiatives have already been implemented, while many others are currently underway.

The attention paid by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan reflects not only his attention to Nakhchivan itself, but also to all regions of Azerbaijan as a whole. This is particularly relevant to the territories of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur that have been liberated from occupation.

Let us not forget that the Zangezur Corridor is an infrastructure project that will provide a direct connection between the region and Nakhchivan. Therefore, the revitalisation and further development of Nakhchivan are attracting the attention of Europe and countries around the world.

On the other hand, the development of Nakhchivan itself, the creation of new jobs, and ensuring employment for its population are also important aspects of this process. I believe that the head of state's visit to Nakhchivan will go down in the history of Azerbaijan as one of the most significant visits and will give a major impetus to the development of Nakhchivan."
