Ilham Aliyev signs decree to accelerate socio-economic development of Nakhchivan
11:17 EnPlans for 2026-2027 in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic include expanding the use of alternative and renewable energy sources, upgrading road, transport, and educational infrastructure, as well as continuing landscaping and construction works.
President Ilham Aliyev has signed a corresponding decree in this regard.
According to the decree, aiming to further accelerate the socio-economic development of the Nakhchivan AR:
A total of 258 million manats has been allocated from the state budget and the budget of Nakhchivan for the implementation of a series of measures.
66 million manats has been allocated to Azerenerji Open Joint Stock Company to continue construction and installation work on the Tivi Hydroelectric Power Plant-with a total capacity of 15.6 MW on the Gilanchay River in Tivi village, Ordubad district.
70 million manats has been allocated to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for the major overhaul of 2 inter-village, 5 urban, and 10 rural highways with a total length of 420 kilometers, connecting 26 settlements with a total population of 156,300 people.
For the construction of a 1,000-bed dormitory for students of Nakhchivan State University, 25 million manats has been allocated to the Ministry of Science and Education. A total of 15 million manats has been allocated to the relevant executive authorities of the cities and districts for the complete renovation of 92 residential buildings containing 2,164 apartments in the cities of Nakhchivan, Sharur, Julfa, Ordubad and Shahbuz, as well as for the renovation of the facades only of 70 residential buildings containing 3,087 apartments in the cities of Nakhchivan, Julfa and Sharur.
The Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has been allocated 20 million manats for the construction of five new preschool educational institutions with a total capacity of 640 places in the NAR, including a 100-place facility in the village of Bulgan in Nakhchivan city, a 100-place facility in the village of Dasta in Ordubad district, a 100-place facility in the city of Sharur, a 240-place facility in the village of Abragunus in Julfa district, and a 100-place facility in the village of Garabaghlar in Kangarli district.
The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan has been allocated 53 million manats at the initial stage to renew the intercity public transport fleet, while the relevant executive authorities of the cities and districts have been allocated 9 million manats for the overhaul of 45 heating boiler houses serving 5,335 apartments in 122 residential buildings in the cities of Nakhchivan, Sharur, Julfa and Ordubad.
