Azerbaijani customs officers seize over 25 kg of marijuana

Employees of the Astara Customs Department of Azerbaijanchr("39")s State Customs Committee have once again detected and removed from illegal circulation a large quantity of narcotics, dried marijuana, as a result of complex operational-search and customs control measures, Olaylar informs, citing the committee.

At the Astara customs post, a vehicle carrying a shipment of "pepper" from Iran to Russia in transit through Azerbaijan was subjected to a thorough inspection using a stationary X-ray system and a service dog.

During the inspection, 55 rectangular packages containing dried marijuana with a net weight of 25 kilograms and 75 grams were found hidden under boxes loaded with pepper and covered with pepper to conceal them from customs control.

An investigation is underway into the case.
