Chamber of Commerce: Northern European businesses show interest in Azerbaijan's energy transition

Companies from Northern European countries are showing growing interest in Azerbaijanchr("39")s energy transition, Executive Director of the Swedish-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce Emil Mirzoyev said on social media, Olaylar informs.

Mirzoyev said the next stage of energy cooperation could go beyond traditional power generation.

"During recent meetings with companies from Northern European countries, we have seen a sustained increase in interest in Azerbaijanchr("39")s energy transition agenda. The focus is no longer solely on energy generation. Companies are increasingly assessing the infrastructure required for the large-scale implementation of new projects," Mirzoyev emphasized.

Businesses are focusing on areas such as modernization of power grids, high-voltage transmission, substation construction, integration of renewable energy sources, cross-border infrastructure, as well as engineering and technological solutions.

"This opens up interesting opportunities for the Nordic countries," he added.

According to the head of the chamber, Sweden, Norway and Denmark have strong expertise in many of these areas, while Azerbaijan is strengthening its role as a key energy hub and transport gateway linking Europe, the Caspian region and Central Asia.

"The opportunity lies not simply in supplying technologies to Azerbaijan, but in becoming part of the infrastructure that will connect the region with European energy markets. This is where, in my view, business diplomacy can turn current business contacts into practical investments and partnerships. The energy transition is not only about producing more clean energy; it is also about creating the systems that enable this energy to be transported. And this is where I see significant potential for strengthening cooperation between Northern Europe and Azerbaijan," Mirzoyev said.
