Azerbaijan, Russia discuss cooperation in agriculture

Azerbaijan and Russia have discussed cooperation opportunities in the agricultural sector, Azerbaijanchr("39")s Agriculture Ministry told Olaylar.

It was stated that the discussions took place during a meeting between Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov and the Russian Presidentchr("39")s aide, Ruslan Edelgeriev, who also serves as Special Representative on Climate and Water Resources.

During the meeting, the current state of agricultural cooperation between the two countries was reviewed. Both sides emphasized that, as in other areas of the economy, cooperation in agriculture is also developing.

They also considered issues such as the declining Caspian Sea level, modernization of irrigation systems to save water resources (one of the main goals of Azerbaijanchr("39")s new state program on agriculture), joint testing of drought- and disease-resistant plant varieties, and mutual participation in international exhibitions, fairs, and agricultural festivals held in both countries.
