Austria's new ambassador to Azerbaijan to arrive in Baku at end of August

Etienne Berchtold has been appointed as the new Ambassador of Austria to Azerbaijan, Olaylar informs.

"Etienne Berchtold is expected to assume his duties as head of the Austrian diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan at the end of August," embassy representatives noted.

The diplomatic mission stated that prior to his appointment to Azerbaijan, Berchtold served as Austriachr("39")s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates since August 2022.

Earlier in his career, he worked at the Federal Chancellery of Austria as spokesperson for foreign and European policy for Federal Chancellors Karl Nehammer, Alexander Schallenberg, and Sebastian Kurz.

Berchtold is a lawyer by training.
