Lavrov: Russia and Azerbaijan advancing allied partnership

Russia and Azerbaijan are moving toward fully realizing the potential of their Declaration on Allied Interaction signed in February 2022, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Moscow.

Lavrov made the remarks at an expanded-format meeting on Friday.

"We are pleased to continue our dialogue at the level of foreign ministers. It complements the regular contacts between the presidents of our two countries, as well as between our governments, ministries, agencies, and parliaments. All this demonstrates that, despite occasional difficulties-which are inevitable in life-we are moving toward fully unlocking the potential of the Moscow Declaration on Allied Interaction signed on February 22, 2022," Lavrov said.

He noted that earlier this year, the two sides resolved all issues related to the shared tragedy of the AZAL plane crash.

Lavrov said the ministers would also discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral economic cooperation, noting that the 24th meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held in April.

"We will certainly discuss the situation in the South Caucasus. We have also noted growing interest in the regional cooperation platform 3+3. I therefore expect todaychr("39")s talks to be productive," he said.

Lavrov emphasized that humanitarian cooperation has traditionally been an important element of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.

"We are ready to discuss the full range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, including our contacts and cooperation on international platforms," he added.
