Azerbaijan to host international mine conference in September

A new international conference on Azerbaijanchr("39")s mine problem is planned to be held in September this year, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov said.

According to Olaylar,  Suleymanov made the remarks during a briefing held to mark the 28th anniversary of the agencychr("39")s establishment.

He said that mine clearance activities currently involve ANAMA, state and private institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations.

"Besides ANAMA, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, one non-governmental organization, and five local companies are involved in this process. As for international cooperation, we pay special attention to this area. Our main goal is to inform the international community about the mine problem faced by Azerbaijan," Suleymanov said.

He added that international conferences are organized to highlight existing challenges, the scale of the issue, and difficulties encountered in mine clearance efforts.

"The next conference is planned to be held at the beginning of September this year," he said.
