Hikmat Hajiyev mulls prospects for media co-op with D-8 leadership

Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, has met with Sohail Mahmood, Secretary General of the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), Mustafa Ozcan, Director of the Organization, and Muhammad Bilal Khan, Executive Assistant to the Secretary General, as part of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, Olaylar informs.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization.

Hikmat Hajiyev recalled that, at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan proposed establishing a Center for Media Excellence within the D-8 framework. He noted that it was within this initiative of the head of state that the first D-8 Media Forum was held in Azerbaijan last year. The launch of the D-8 Center for Media Excellence is a logical continuation of this initiative.

Sohail Mahmood, in turn, congratulated and expressed gratitude for the establishment of the D-8 Media Excellence Center in Azerbaijan.

During the conversation, it was emphasized that the Center will play an important role as a platform for professional training for media representatives from D-8 member countries, discussing new challenges in artificial intelligence and media, organizing training sessions on countering disinformation, and sharing experiences.
