Ilham Aliyev: Section 907 put forward by pro-Armenian senators

Section 907 was an unjust step taken by the US Congress; it was put forward by pro-Armenian senators, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the opening ceremony of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, entitled "The Mission of the Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Rebuilding Trust," Olaylar informs.

The president noted that Biden (former US President) was one of them, which is why Azerbaijan faced difficulties during the Biden administration:

"Therefore, Azerbaijan was deprived of US financial assistance. An impression had been created that Azerbaijan was imposing a blockade against Armenia, which was not true."

Aliyev added that today Section 907 has become completely outdated: "First, Azerbaijan and Armenia initialed a peace agreement with the participation of President Trump. On the other hand, Azerbaijan has unilaterally completely lifted all restrictions on Armenia; more than 40,000 tons of various cargo have been transported to Armenia from Russia, Kazakhstan, and other places. Azerbaijan has also started supplying petroleum products to Armenia, and this figure already exceeds 10,000 tons."

The president reiterated that Section 907 must be completely removed and abolished:

"Unfortunately, despite President Trumpchr("39")s firm position, it still remains in force. The sooner the US Congress abolishes it, the more beneficial it will be for everyone, including Azerbaijan, because in that case discrimination will be eliminated and Congress will demonstrate its responsibility and capability. This will also mean that they acknowledge their mistakes and are taking steps in line with the current geopolitical situation. Therefore, we hope that this will happen."
