An international conference titled "Media and Decolonization: Rising Voices, Strengthening Narratives" will be held in Baku on July 11 at the initiative of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG). Olaylar informs.
According to BIG, this will be the first such platform in Azerbaijan featuring representatives of media outlets from colonial territories. The conference will be held in an interactive format with the participation of foreign and Azerbaijani journalists.
The event will bring together heads of media organizations, journalists, political analysts, experts, researchers, diplomats, government representatives, civil society members, and diaspora organizations.
Participants will discuss the role of media in decolonization processes, challenges in covering colonial territories, countering disinformation through artificial intelligence, and expanding cooperation between international and local media outlets.
Special attention will be given to documenting colonial crimes, human rights violations, environmental justice issues, and strengthening an international network of cooperation among journalists and human rights defenders.
