Azerbaijan represented at session of IMO Technical Cooperation Committee

Azerbaijan was represented at the 76th session of the Technical Cooperation Committee, held at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquarters in London, Olaylar informs referring to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

The event was attended by Ramil Gasimov, Director of the International Relations Department of the State Maritime and Port Agency, and Narmin Nabiyeva, Acting Head of the Human Resources Department.

At the session, IMO Secretary General Arsenio Dominguez and representatives of member states expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the Azerbaijani sailors who died in the Sea of ​​Azov. Participants called for the prevention of targeted attacks against seafarers, emphasizing their important role in ensuring global trade.

During the discussions, the results of technical cooperation activities were reviewed and views were exchanged on identifying priority areas for the coming years. Particular attention was paid to strengthening human resource capacity in Member States, digital transformation of the industry, seafarer training, developing onboard training programs, improving search and rescue systems, and technical assistance mechanisms.

The session adopted decisions related to the development of the IMO Technical Cooperation Portal, expanding technical assistance activities based on audit findings, and strengthening targeted support to member states.
