Raev: First Turkological Congress shaped destiny of Turkic world

The First Turkological Congress was a decisive step that shaped the destiny of the Turkic world, Secretary‑General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev stated at the plenary session of the Turkic World Week in Baku, dedicated to the congresschr("39")s 100th anniversary, Olaylar informs.

Raev noted that they are in Baku to honor the legacy established a century ago: "Baku is a city where the spirit of the Turkic world and the martyrs of Karabakh are always remembered and cherished."

The Secretary‑General highlighted that the struggle in 1926 was about peoples and identities: "Every step taken and every decision made during the First Turkological Congress in Baku became factors shaping the fate of the Turkic world today. Despite being spread across different geographies, our shared culture and identity have always enabled us to live as one family."

He cited the work of Turkic organizations as examples of unity and brotherhood, and highlighted the importance of language: "Language is not only a means of communication but also the historical memory and national identity of a people."
