Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to fully switch to electronic freight transport permits

Starting from 2027, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will fully transition to an electronic format for issuing permits for international road freight transportation.

According to Olaylar, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), the decision was adopted during a meeting of the Joint Commission on International Road Transport held in Baku.

The move follows the successful implementation of the e-permit system. The digitalization of permit issuance is expected to simplify administrative procedures and make international transport operations more transparent and efficient.

The two sides also noted the steady growth in cargo transportation volumes between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in recent years.

To facilitate international freight transport this year, the parties agreed to exchange an additional 6,000 electronic permits, including 2,000 permits each for bilateral transport, transit transport, and transport to/from third countries.

The initial permit quota for 2027 has been set at 28,000 permits, including 12,000 for bilateral transport and 8,000 each for transit transport and transport to/from third countries. This represents an increase of 12,000 permits compared to the previous period.
