Water level decline in Caspian Sea discussed in London

The decline in the water level of the Caspian Sea demonstrates how climate change can affect ecosystems, transportation, and infrastructure, while also highlighting the need for closer regional cooperation and sustainable measures, Mukhtar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Presidentchr("39")s Representative on Climate Issues, said during panel discussions held as part of London Climate Action Week.

Olaylar quotes Babayev as saying oceans and coastal ecosystems are crucial for climate resilience, food security, livelihoods, biodiversity, and economic development.

He noted that as climate impacts intensify, turning commitments into practical action is becoming increasingly urgent, particularly for vulnerable coastal and island communities.

Babayev also emphasized that, building on the outcomes of COP29 and moving toward COP31, consistent implementation of decisions, stronger partnerships, and expanded access to financing remain essential for achieving tangible results on the ground.
