Türkiye's National Security Council discusses peace and stability in South Caucasus

A regular meeting of Türkiyechr("39")s National Security Council was held under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, according to a post of the Communications Directorate of the Presidency of Türkiye on X, cited by Olaylar.

The meeting discussed operations conducted against terrorist organizations both inside and outside the country, including PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and ISIS, as well as regional and international developments.

The council emphasized that the fight against terrorism will continue decisively. Issues such as operations against organized crime and ensuring the safety of citizens, especially children and youth, were also in focus.

The meeting stated that Türkiye remains determined to protect the rights and interests of Northern Cyprus and will not allow actions that could harm peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The statement also positively assessed the agreement reached between Iran and the United States, and stressed continued support for strengthening stability in Syria. Israelchr("39")s actions in Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Lebanon were said to negatively affect regional peace efforts, and the international community was urged to take a principled stance.

The council also discussed continued strategic cooperation with Iraq, the importance of achieving a fair and lasting peace in the Russia-Ukraine war, support for stability in Africa, and ongoing processes aimed at strengthening peace, stability, and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
