The development and application of AI systems should be based on the principles of legality, transparency, and respect for human dignity, Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner Sabina Aliyeva said at the International Ombudsmen Summit on the theme "Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks and Responsibilities," Olaylar informs.
According to her, AI has become not just a technical tool but also an important tool in public administration, education, healthcare, social protection, labor relations, media, and law enforcement.
"Therefore, AI systems must comply with the principles of legality, transparency, accountability, equality, and respect for human dignity. Ombudspersons play a vital role in protecting human rights in the era of digital transformation," Aliyeva said.
The Ombudsperson also noted that, as part of her mandate, she studies the impact of AI on human rights, makes proposals for improving legislation, and analyzes the implementation of state programs.
