Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry hosts seminar on human rights, public services

Azerbaijanchr("39")s Foreign Ministry has organized a seminar on "Promoting human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals through transparent, accountable and effective delivery of public services," with the participation of state bodies, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country and representatives of civil society.

As Olaylar informs that the event was dedicated to June 18 - Human Rights Day, established by an order of President Ilham Aliyev, and was held as part of Human Rights Month, announced in the country from May 18 to June 18 at the initiative of the Commissioner for Human Rights, the Ombudsman.

During the seminar, presentations were made and discussions were held on topics such as the positive impact of access to public services on the protection of human rights and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, the global promotion and application of the ASAN Service model, and the importance of the resolution titled "Promoting human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals through transparent, accountable and effective delivery of public services," which was adopted for the third time at Azerbaijanchr("39")s initiative during the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council on March 30, 2026 and places citizen satisfaction at the forefront.

The discussions also covered the application of innovations and new technologies in public services.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President Jeyhun Salmanov, MP Kamal Jafarov and Deputy Head of the Office of the Judicial-Legal Council Nurlan Hamidli spoke about the effective organization of public services in the country, including the application of the ASAN Service model at the national and international levels, as well as the successful integration of digital innovations and new technologies into citizen-oriented services, relevant legislation and judicial practice.

The ambassadors of Pakistan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and Colombia to Azerbaijan shared their countrieschr("39") national experience in organizing effective public services and provided information on cooperation in the application of the ASAN Service model.

Nasar Hayat, the UNchr("39")s acting resident coordinator in Azerbaijan, spoke about the important contribution of transparent and effective public services to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Aydin Safikhanli, Head of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, the Ombudsman, which initiated Human Rights Month, delivered the closing speech at the seminar.
