Parliament approves bill on establishing Azerbaijan's Embassy in Portugal

The Milli Majlis has approved a bill on the establishment of Azerbaijanchr("39")s embassy in Portugal.

As reports Olaylar, the issue was discussed at an extraordinary session of parliament.

Under the document, the embassy will be located in Lisbon.

Member of Parliament Samir Valiyev stated that relations between Azerbaijan and Portugal are based on friendly ties and that the opening of the diplomatic mission will strengthen interparliamentary cooperation.

Chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, Samad Seyidov, noted that relations between the two countries are at a good level and that Portugal will also open an embassy in Azerbaijan in the near future.

Following discussions, the bill was adopted in a single reading.

It was noted that in a congratulatory letter sent on June 5 to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Portuguese President António José Seguro emphasized that the opening of embassies in Baku and Lisbon would contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
