Over 814,000 people aged 15+ in Azerbaijan suffered from obesity in 2025

In 2025, more than 814,000 people aged 15 and above in Azerbaijan suffered from obesity (body mass index above 30),  Olaylar informs, citing the countrychr("39")s State Statistical Committee.

According to the latest data, the rate was 9.3% among men and 10.6% among women.

Among the 15-19 age group (797,700 people), obesity was 0.7%; in the 20-44 age group (649,200 people), 4.3%; in the 45-64 age group (2,408,100 people), 16.4%; and among those aged 65 and older (1,012,300 people), 19.3%.

In the 15-19 age group, the rate was 0.5% among boys and 0.8% among girls. In the 20-44 age group, obesity was 5.5% among men and 3.1% among women. In the 45-64 age group, the rate was 15.2% among men and 17.6% among women, while in the 65+ group it was 15.3% and 22.6%, respectively.

The study shows that obesity increases with age, with the highest rate recorded among women over 65.
