Azerbaijani embassy in Rabat hosts Independence Day reception
10:42 EnThe Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Morocco organized an official reception in Rabat to mark the 108th anniversary of Azerbaijanchr("39")s independence, Olaylar informs.
The event gathered around 300 guests, including representatives of the Moroccan government, diplomatic corps, parliament, international organizations, media, public figures, and members of the Azerbaijani and Moroccan communities.
Morocco was represented by Azzedine El Midaoui, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation. Other notable attendees included Mustapha El Ktiri, High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Liberation Army, and Latifa Akharbach, Chair of the High Authority of Audiovisual Communication, among other officials.
The reception highlighted the historic significance of the 1918 establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the first democratic republic in the Muslim East. A special art exhibition titled Inspiration from Azerbaijan: Moroccan Perspective drew wide attention, showcasing works by 13 Moroccan artists inspired by Azerbaijanchr("39")s history, culture, nature, and traditions. Paintings depicted mountain landscapes, national art elements, daily life scenes, culinary traditions, and portraits of prominent Azerbaijani figures.
Guests enjoyed traditional Azerbaijani cuisine including dolma, pilaf, and baklava, accompanied by live Azerbaijani music, national dances, and displays of traditional attire. Videos highlighting Azerbaijanchr("39")s history, culture, and modern achievements were also presented.
The event, held within the framework of the Year of Urban Planning and Architecture- 2026, served as an important platform to promote Azerbaijanchr("39")s heritage and achievements abroad. Participants praised the organization and stressed the importance of such initiatives in strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Morocco.
