Japan outlines key topics for upcoming talks with Azerbaijan's foreign minister

Japanchr("39")s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi has outlined the key topics for upcoming talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who is visiting Japan on June 9-10.

As reports Olaylar, Motegi said at a press conference that the sides would hold an in-depth exchange of views not only on bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, but also on regional issues, including developments in the Middle East, the South Caucasus, and the Indo-Pacific region.

"Azerbaijan, located on the Caspian Sea and one of the worldchr("39")s leading producers of oil and natural gas, is currently cooperating with Japanese companies in oil field development and, given the current situation, exports crude oil to Japan," he said.

He also noted that Azerbaijan has been providing important support for the safety of Japanese citizens amid recent tensions in the Middle East, including receiving Japanese nationals evacuated from Iran.

Motegi added that Bayramovchr("39")s visit is the first by an Azerbaijani foreign minister to Japan in 17 years.
