Azerbaijan's Independence Day celebrated in Dushanbe

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Tajikistan has organized a gala reception in Dushanbe to celebrate Azerbaijanchr("39")s Independence Day, Olaylar informs.

The event was attended by Tajikistanchr("39")s Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir, Assistant to the President of Tajikistan on Foreign Policy Azamsho Sharifi, Co-Chair of the Tajik-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Friendship Group Gayrat Azizzoda, representatives of the Tajik government and parliament, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies, heads and staff of diplomatic missions accredited in Dushanbe, representatives of the public, business circles, and compatriots living in Tajikistan.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tajikistan Alimirzamin Asgarov addressed the event.

He spoke about the historical significance of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, established 108 years ago as the first democratic, legal, secular, and parliamentary republic in the Muslim East.

The ambassador also noted Azerbaijanchr("39")s achievements since the restoration of independence, the special role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in state building, and the successful continuation of this course by President Ilham Aliyev.

Asgarov emphasized that today, Azerbaijan has strengthened its position, achieving political, economic, and military strength, as well as high prestige in the international arena.

During his speech, the diplomat also noted the successful holding of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku from May 17-22 and emphasized that this demonstrates Azerbaijanchr("39")s standing as a reliable international partner.

The ambassador briefed the participants on the progress of construction and restoration work in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

He also touched on the issue of persons missing during the First Karabakh War and the mine threat that Azerbaijan still faces today.

Speaking about bilateral relations, Asgarov emphasized that the special and trusting relationship between the heads of state provides a strong impetus to the development of ties between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.

The reception featured Azerbaijani musical compositions performed by Doston Kholov, soloist of the Tajik State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, and video clips about Azerbaijan.

Guests were also treated to an exhibition dedicated to Azerbaijani-Tajik relations and samples of Azerbaijani cuisine.
