National Cybersecurity Agency to handle complaints over personal data leaks and misuse

Azerbaijan"s National Cybersecurity Agency will be responsible for investigating complaints from individuals whose rights have been violated due to the illegal collection, processing, or inadequate protection of personal data, according to Agencychr("39")s charter approved by a decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

As Olaylar informs that under the document, the Agency has the authority to require state bodies, legal entities, and individuals to eliminate violations of the Law "On Personal Data."

The Agency will also conduct audits of data collection, processing, and protection systems upon request from data owners and operators to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

It is noted that the public legal entity "National Cybersecurity Agency" has been established on the basis of the Electronic Security Service (ESS). Like the former ESS, the new Agency will operate under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
