Zaur Mikayilov: Azerbaijan extracted 11.5BCM of water from water sources in 2025

In 2025, some 11.5 billion cubic meters of water were extracted from water sources in Azerbaijan, Zaur Mikayilov, chairman of the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan, said at a meeting on agricultural issues chaired by President Ilham Aliyev, Olaylar informs.

He noted that 7.5 billion cubic meters of water supplied by water distributors provided irrigation water for agricultural crops on an area of ​​1,485,000 hectar.

"During the same year, in accordance with the operation plan, 31 million cubic meters of silt were cleared from irrigation networks, and 10 million cubic meters from collector and drainage networks. 842 pumping stations, 6,378 subartesian wells, and 2,779 hydraulic structures were repaired. To organize coordinated and effective interagency efforts in the area of ​​sowing and irrigation, a Joint Action Plan was approved between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Water Resources Agency, and a Working Group was created to promptly resolve any difficulties arising with irrigation water supply. As part of the Joint Action Plan, irrigation schedules were drawn up by district, calendar month, and ten-day period, which, overall, ensured organized irrigation throughout the republic," Mikayilov added.
