Prime Minister: Azerbaijan implementing major initiatives to diversify economy

As Olaylar reports, that Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said this on Friday while speaking at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
"Today, Azerbaijan is confidently moving along the path of sustainable and comprehensive development. Industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, and high-tech sectors of the economy are developing consistently," he said.
According to him, one of the key priorities of state policy remains the development of green energy.
"Large-scale projects in the field of renewable energy sources not only help strengthen environmental sustainability, but also serve to expand the countrychr("39")s investment and export potential," he noted.
The prime minister stressed that special attention is being paid to the restoration of the Karabakh region, where a qualitatively new model of sustainable development is being implemented with the creation of green energy zones and the use of modern infrastructure solutions, innovative technologies, and smart city and smart village concepts.
"Already today, the region is becoming an important space for economic activity, investment and sustainable development," the head of government added.
Ali Asadov noted that Azerbaijan is strengthening its role as a reliable transport and logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia.
"The implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and the development of international transport corridors contribute to expanding the countrychr("39")s transit potential and strengthening logistics connectivity," he stressed.
The prime minister said Azerbaijan has intensified the implementation of large-scale economic initiatives in recent years aimed at diversifying the economy and ensuring sustainable growth.
"In December 2025, the Digital Economy Development Strategy for 2026-2029 was approved, providing for the accelerated development of the technology sector, innovation and digital transformation. Taken together, these initiatives, along with the sustainable growth of the non-oil sector and the expansion of international economic cooperation, contribute to the formation of a new model of Azerbaijanchr("39")s economy focused on technology, infrastructure development and regional integration," Ali Asadov added.
