Farid Shafiyev: Azerbaijan and Türkiye contributing to reconstruction of Syria
14:22 EnAzerbaijan, together with Türkiye, is contributing to reconstruction efforts in Syria, Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations, said during World Urban Forum 13 in Baku.
He noted that since 2020, Azerbaijan has allocated more than $14 billion for the reconstruction of the liberated territories, including the construction of roads, airports, schools, hospitals, and residential settlements.
Shafiyev also touched upon the situation in Syria following the 13-year civil war, highlighting the large-scale destruction of urban infrastructure and housing. According to the World Bank, damage to buildings and infrastructure amounts to around 108 billion US dollars, while the total cost of reconstruction is estimated at approximately 216 billion US dollars.
