Javid Gurbanov: Azerbaijan increased transit traffic 2.5 times in 6 years
11:38 EnAzerbaijan has increased transit traffic by 2.5 times in six years, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Javid Gurbanov said at the 18th meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission in Kazakhstanchr("39")s Astana, Olaylar informs.
According to him, the total volume of transit traffic through Azerbaijan will reach 14.3 million tons in 2025, 2.5 times higher than in 2019.
"Of this volume, approximately 4.7 million tons were transported along the Middle Corridor, confirming its growing role in ensuring regional connectivity," Gurbanov noted.
He emphasized the completion of the modernization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, which increased the routechr("39")s capacity from 1 million to 5 million tons per year, as an important milestone.
Gurbanov also noted that container traffic through the Baku International Sea Trade Port increased by 40% in 2025, reaching a record 107,000 TEUs.
"As part of the second stage of the portchr("39")s development, its throughput capacity is planned to increase to 25 million tons of cargo turnover and to 500,000 TEUs by 2030," he said.
The deputy minister noted that Azerbaijan is actively promoting the digitalization of the transport and logistics sector, including the implementation of electronic CMRs (cargo movement requests), permit systems, and a digital single-window system.
