Baku Metro assigned to manage tram transport in capital

The Baku Metro CJSC has been granted authority to organize tram transport in Azerbaijanchr("39")s capital.

According to Olaylar, this was reflected in the decree signed today by President Ilham Aliyev on the reorganization of Baku Metro CJSC, amendments to certain decrees and orders, and the repeal of some orders.

Under the decree, Baku Metro is defined as a commercial legal entity responsible for providing passenger transport services in public transport (metro, bus, tram, taxi), improving service quality and safety, introducing innovative and digital solutions for service organization and fare payment, as well as designing and constructing new transport infrastructure facilities (metro, tram, bus terminals, stations, and technical service areas for taxis and buses). It is also tasked with strengthening and modernizing the material‑technical base and ensuring the integration, centralized management, and coordination of services across different transport modes.
